EZA Fairer Handel
Pioneer in Fair Trade: for more than 45 years!
EZA Fairer Handel LLC (limited liability company) was founded in Salzburg in 1975, bringing Fair Trade to Austria. It is a pioneer in Fair Trade and Austria's largest import organisation for Fair Trade products. Shareholders are the Catholic Men's Movement Austria and Upper Austria.
Fair Trade determines our entire corporate policy.
- With its trade partnerships, EZA is committed to humane working conditions and fair payment,
- promotes ecological production methods,
- creates market access for small farmers' organisations and artisans,
- ensures transparency in production and trading conditions and
- carries out information and education work on Fair Trade.
EZA as a whole is guided by the 10 principles of the international World Fair Trade Organisation - WFTO, compliance with which is monitored externally. They form the basis for our cooperation with our trading partners in overseas.
In the case of EZA's FAIRTRADE-labelled products, the standards laid down by FAIRTRADE International also apply as a binding basis for our cooperation and are monitored by FLO-Cert GmbH.
EZA's product range includes food, handicraft articles, fair fashion and organic cosmetics. Behind this assortment there are around 125 partner organisations from 45 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. The majority of EZA's partners are small farmers' associations and associations of craftspeople or their marketing organisations. Clothing is sold under the EZA brand Anukoo, organic cosmetics under the BIOSFAIR brand. Coffees, chocolates, teas, cocoa, sugar, nuts, honey, footballs and clothing made of organic cotton bear the FAIRTRADE label. 90 per cent of EZA's food sales are made with products from Fair Trade AND certified organic cultivation.
